Going Native

(7/3/2020)
We were gonna have a last historical/touristy day in Reykjavik visiting a Whale Museum and Cod War boat, but on our wander down to the brewery we passed a tattoo parlour and thought what better place to get a Viking tattoo.
Was an impressive studio with a couple of battleaxes, a sword and a battered shield on the wall, obviously used in reenactments, plus a raven.       The girl does Viking historical fayres all round Europe with her boyfriend and insists runes will only be given in the centuries old traditional way - by hand useing 3 needles bound close together, dipping in the ink as she goes along. Agree it's the only way to do it...felt like going through a ritual.... well chuffed...
The Rune chosen is Raido, and stood for lifes journey as well as the journey of the soul after death.  It was valued as a talismen to ensure succesful passage. In the context of meaningful relationships this Rune calls for us to appreciate and accept differences, letting go of past hurts and unrealistic expectations,  acknowledging that a harmonious relationship is a spiritual journey....
